First ever voice-activated panic app Valor launched in SA

Valor, the only voice-activated panic super app – brought to you by BYY Strategic Services – has launched in South Africa. The voice-activated app has been designed to prioritise speed and ease-of-use even in high stress situations.

Available on Android and iOS, the app allows users to set a custom ‘panic’ phrase to use if they find themselves in potentially dangerous or high alert situations. The control room monitors ambient sounds via the app to assess the situation, providing details to emergency and armed response services while on-route to the users location.

“Valor is the next level of personal security,” notes Amanda Rogaly, CEO of BYY Strategic Services. “This is the first patented voice activated panic Super App not just in South Africa, but in the world.”

Rogaly explains that the voice activation feature makes for enhanced safety. She says, “Because the app is voice activated, you are able to alert our armed response and medical emergency teams as soon as you become alert to a threat or danger, reducing the risk of abduction, theft or other serious crime(s).”

Valor comes with real-time tracking, meaning it can provide a safeguard even in situations where someone might feel uncomfortable, such as when using e-hailing services. Additionally, the app also notifies the user’s bank when their safety has been compromised, alerting fraud departments so they can initiate protocols to protect banking accounts.

“Although facial recognition was heralded as a major breakthrough in terms of banking and security, the reality is that criminals can gain access to victims’ bank accounts simply by holding their phones to their faces – but Valor offers a solution that lessens the financial implications of having your accounts accessed,” says Rogaly.

Rogaly adds that partnerships with service providers are paramount to the Valor offering. The company has partnered with various banks and the largest emergency control room in South Africa to ensure users are able to receive immediate support.

“Valor acts as a personal, voice-activated command centre, protecting the safety of your entire family with nothing more than your own voice,” concludes Rogaly.
