Darkies in Tech (DIT) has announced its first ever startup pitching competition,The Titan’s Turf. The competition will see 10 startups pitch their companies to investors and stand a chance at a cash grant prize.
The competition is sponsored byGijima,NEXT176,Art of Scale andZulzi, and will be hosted on the 11th of April 2025 at the Gijima offices in Midrand. Cash prizes begin at R10 000 for third place, R20 000 for second place and R100 000 for first place.
DIT is a non-profit organisation committed to advancing and transforming South Africa’s technology ecosystem. The organisation exists to catalyse equitable access to knowledge, networks, and funding for professionals of colour, and to create a diverse and inclusive South Africa tech ecosystem that reflects South Africa’s demographic diversity.
To become a DIT member, you need to meet the following criteria:
· You're a person of colour (black, coloured or Indian).
· You’re South African or you operate predominantly within South Africa.
· You’re a founder or executive of a high-growth tech company, or are an investor in high growth tech companies, or you offer support programs to high growth tech companies.
· You’re a high calibre individual with a proven track record of execution.
“To maintain trust and relevance within our community, it is crucial to admit only members who are actively engaged in the high-growth technology sector,” says the organisation’s website.
